As part of our 10-days long showcase at B&D Studios during Design Event‘s Northern Design Festival, Teresa Almeida and Lalya Gaye will be holding a free, hands-on, DIY creative technologies workshop on 12th October at B&D, where you are invited to join us and explore the intersection of electronics, design and traditional craft, during one afternoon.

You will learn how to make interactive objects, such as vegetable-based game-controllers, light-reacting sound garments, or loudspeakers made out of washing powder boxes.

No prior technical skills or craft experience required, and anyone aged 8+ is welcome. Tools, technology and materials will be provided, but if you practice a craft/artform or have a material you would like to use, feel free to bring it with you along with your tools.

The workshop is free of charge, but space will be limited to 15 participants. Therefore you are kindly asked to pre-register by emailing dear@attayaprojects.com by 7th October, writing [Attaya B&D Workshop] inside the subject field.

B&D Studios are located at Commercial Union House, 3rd Floor, Pilgrim Street, NE1 6QE Newcastle upon Tyne (across the street from Tyneside Cinema, upstairs from where Maplin used to be – yes that building that seems to float over the street).

Looking forward to play with you!

Time: 12th October, 11.00-14.00
Location: B&D Studios, 3rd Floor, Commercial Union House, Pilgrim Street, NE1 6QE Newcastle upon Tyne
Free of charge
