We are having a showcase called A Cup of Attaya at B&D Studios in Newcastle, as part of the 2013 Northern Design Festival (this year’s theme is Create:Digital).

During ten days (from 10-19 October), we will inhabit the space of B&D Studios, redecorate it with interactive installations, demos of work-in-progress, and have a chill-out salon area where we’ll welcome visitors with a nice cup of West-African Attaya tea and traditional Swedish cookies (Why, you ask? Because they’re tasty! Yum yum yum).

The whole thing will start with an opening and website launch on 10th October at 17.30, followed by a workshop on the 12th at 11.00. Besides demos of on-going Attaya projects, the showcase will also include ‘artists spotlights’ on Attaya collaborators throughout the festival (exact dates and times for artist spotlights will follow shortly).

Some of the featured Attaya Projects artists who will be showing their work and inhabiting the space include:

Join us for the launch and come hang out with us during the festival to have a look and a chat about what we do!

The opening party + website launch will take place on Thursday 10th October from 17.00
(closing time TBC. Tips: Globe Gallery will also have an opening for the festival straight afterwards, from 6 to 8pm. It will be great, don’t miss it!)

B&D Studios are located at Commercial Union House, 3rd Floor, Pilgrim Street, NE1 6QE Newcastle upon Tyne (across the street from Tyneside Cinema, upstairs from where Maplin used to be – yes that building that seems to float over the street). Many thanks to B&D Studios for hosting us!

Our opening hours are:
10 – 19 October
Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri: 10.00 – 19.30
Wed: 10.00 – 18.00
Sat: 12.00 – 17.00
Sun: closed.

More info about the workshop, artist spotlights and other activities coming soon on this blog.

See you there!

UPDATE (5.10.13): Updated the opening hours, as the showcase will be closed on Sundays.
